First off, thanks again to all of you who managed to make it out for the Dave's Birthday/Halloween extravaganza on Friday night at the house on 15th and Rollins. If you were there, you know that it was a great time; if you weren't there, now you know. This 'holiday' always brings about a few questions to consider, and after some close observation on Friday night, I would like to take a few minutes to discuss my thoughts. First off, much like St. Patrick's Day, I feel many people use Halloween as a simple excuse to get drunk, which, and I would hate for this point to go overlooked, I find no problem with. Finishing the month of October and living to tell the tale seems like a reasonably good excuse for consuming as much alcohol as humanly possible, perhaps more, and conversing (or dancing) with as many unknown people as one can find. At any rate, it is always fun to use such an arbitrary day to get together with friends and let loose for a few hours, dress in clothes that may not by the conventional standard 'fit properly', and, of course, buy copious amounts of candy that will probably last longer than you will find appealing. So, this one already being over and in the books, hopefully you had a happy Halloween, because we all know it only happens once a year. 363 days left!
I would like to first and foremost thank everybody that was able to make it out to the 400 Bar this weekend. Even with all the zombies, and Ken and TJ's near incident with one particular overweight one, the event turned out to be a great one. I really appreciated the fact that many of those in attendance were friends of mine from the dorms and/or of other acquaintance made this year- thanks guys, it made me feel more at home in the "big scary city". But to get to the point of this blog, I take it upon myself to remind everybody that no matter how stressed you become or how busy you may be, be sure to set aside some time for doing the things you love the most. For me and the other guys in apollo, it's music, but for you it may not be. Whatever it is that allows you to let your hair down and relax, taking a break from the daily grind is one of the most important things we can do to stay healthy and motivated in all our tasks, be they school work, athletics, social life, or music. That having been said, I hope all of you guys who actually take the time to read the blog pages on our site have left yourself ample time to relax- do it for yourself.
